New CD by the Al Maniscalco Quartet has arrived!!

More In My Heart is the most expressive and emotionally charged recording by the Al Maniscalco Quartet to date. Featuring six powerful compositions by Maniscalco himself, this record also offers compositions by long time friend and band-mate Eric Kennedy, Italian pianist Davide Calvi, and a fresh rendition of the Bill Evans standard “Time Remembered”.

Joining the quartet for this recording is renowned pianist George Colligan, whose reputation has grown in part to his work with Cassandra Wilson, Buster Williams, and Lonnie Plaxico. He has toured the U.S., Asia, and Europe as both a sideman and leader, and has been featured on some 60 recordings, 13 as leader. He is continually in demand as a sideman by many prominent jazz artists including Gary Bartz, Vanessa Rubin, Don Byron, Ravi Coltrane, and Robin Eubanks. George has received numerous awards and grants as a performer and composer, most recently from Chamber Music America.

Drummer Eric Kennedy has been a member of the Al Maniscalco Quartet since 1996. In 1990, Eric toured Europe with O.T.I.N. for two years and made his debut recording. Upon returning to the States in 1993, Eric continued his music studies with jazz great Leroy Williams and Jamal Wilson. Eric has performed and or recorded with Curtis Fuller, Richard Wyands, Gary Bartz, Paul Brown, Keter Betts, Dave Hubbard, Gary Thomas, Greg Osby, Cyrus Chestnut, John Swana, John Pattitucci, Ingrid Jensen, and The Eubie Blake Big Band among others. His compositions have been featured on recordings by Kelly Shepherd, and Al Maniscalco, and the soundtrack to the independent film, The Big Muddy.

Rounding out the rhythm section is bassist Jeff Reed. Having recently completed his formal studies in Jazz, Jeff has quickly become one of the first call bassists in the greater Baltimore/Washington area. He has been featured on numerous recordings by many regional artists, and has performed with Gary Thomas, Billy Hart, Ethel Ennis, George Colligan, and Mark Gross among others.
